How to Keep Your Lawn Looking Green with Minimal Water

It hasn't been easy to keep lawns looking green and healthy this year!

The grass in your lawn is typically 70-75% water. When it stops receiving regular water it will start to show signs of drought stress.

Drought stress signals to look for in your lawn:
• Footprints, wheelbarrow or lawnmower tracks become apparent
• Grass color starts to turn from dark evergreen to a yellowish-green and, ultimately, tan/blonde lawn

How to prevent it:
• Minimize lawn traffic (lawnmowers, foot traffic, etc)
• Water as much as possible a minimum of a 1/2 inch every week, or as much as water restrictions allow
• Cut your lawn taller and less frequently. Mow at a recommended 3.5”-4” and every 7-14 days.

No one likes to see a brown lawn, but drought stress can be fixed if you catch it and take steps to prevent it in a timely manner!
